The Church of St Peter’s Daylesford
History & Brief
The Church of St Peter’s Daylesford is in the high Gothic style. It was designed by JL Pearson 1863. It is a Grade I Listed building. The church is now owned by the St Peter’s Daylesford Charitable Trust and shares services between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic church.
The church contains two impressive metal screens to the transepts, installed shortly after the church was completed. The church also contains other decorative metal objects, candle holders, door handles to the font, font handles, and a painted organ case. Conservation architects Donald Insall Associates recommends that a condition survey is required to assess the condition of the metal substrate and establish the decorative history of the existing paint finishes to formulate a conservation programme for the ironwork and the organ case.
